The Great British BBQ survey
It’s no secret that Brits love a good BBQ. We ran a bbq survey of over 2,000 people to find out the bbq habits of the UK public. The results are in, so stick around to see what we found out…
[To all you other publications out there, please feel free to quote our survey results, but make sure you link back to us]
What type of BBQ do you prefer?
Most people said they preferred a charcoal grill (63%), followed by a gas BBQ (20%). Only 7% of participants said that they preferred a disposable BBQ, which is the lowest amount of votes received. This result is unsurprising because although disposable BBQs are convenient, they raise some environmental and safety concerns.
We were interested to see that only 10% preferred a pellet grill, a type of BBQ we think will grow massively in popularity over the next few years – you heard it here first!
If you had to choose one, what is your favourite meat to cook on the BBQ?
According to the bbq survey results, 32% of participants said that steak is their favourite meat to cook on the bbq. If cooked well, BBQ steak can be a delicious choice for barbecuing.
The BBQ staple of sausages was the second most popular choice, with 25% of participants choosing it as their favourite bbq meat.
Chicken was the third most popular choice, with 18% of participants choosing it as their favourite meat. No matter your preferred flavour, choosing to bbq a whole chicken is a popular way to cook. You can use different types of marinade and seasonings to change up the taste.
Surprisingly, burgers only received 12% of the vote. BBQ burgers are a popular choice in the UK, so we expected this number to be higher. This could result from the tendency to overcook burgers and leave them turning into chewy lumps at the back of the grill. You know who you are.
10% of participants chose pork as their favourite bbq meat. If you’re bored of the same old options, barbecued pork is a great way to mix things up.
There was only a small percentage of participants who said that they prefer veggies, coming in at 3%. If you’re a vegetarian and looking for some great vegetarian bbq ideas, take a look at our blog!
Have you ever cooked your Christmas turkey on the BBQ?
